Which kind of meat/bbq smoker is better?
Was wanting to buy a smoker to smoke ribs, brisket, and other meats. I would prefer a electric smoker so i could set it and not have to worry about it. I was wondering if the electric one would work as well as a gas or charcoal.
thanks
I have used both and the electric is more effective and as you said no need to be stoking the coals, but the charcoal ones give a nicer flavour and you can use them in the winter better, the electric cord and wet weather if you live in a climate with rain or snow can be a hazard, I like to use various woods for smoking and the electric ones do better with sawdust or smaller particles were the charcoal ones you can add chunks of wood like hickory, pecan, apple and cherry wood or the Jack Daniels ones.
The electric ones do have a set heat or temperature setting the charcoal ones are more random, I guess alot depends on how smokey and strong you like your smoked foods and the use you will get out of it, a charcoal one can also double as a grill when removing the top section in a pinch, and if there is a long power failure and you need to cook things it is a god send for that reason alone.
