Is it better to put foil pp on your stove burner plates or not?

Just bought my FIRST stove, I've been told by MANY to cover the burner plates (Not sure what it is called really sorry. But the part under the burners on a stove, if that helped any lol) with foil paper. As others have said to NOT cover them as it can mess with the cooking time and the burners also. So do you cover them, or do you not?

What you are asking about are drip pans. And no, do not cover them if it is an electric stove. Doing so will cause your burner to short out over time. If you look in your owners manual, I'm sure it will tell you specifically not to do it. You also shouldn't put any aluminum foil under the the element in the oven for the same reason. The cost to replace them are fairly cheap with the 6" about $1.50 and the 8" is about $2.50. You can also get them now in black if you wish.
