how to build a bug zapper?
We have a major problem with tiger moth caterpillars in western Colorado eating our trees. I need to try and kill as many of the moths during July & August before they can lay more eggs. I would like to make a large bug killer off 110 power (bigger than they sell in stores) or I may have to buy one, take it apart and look to see how the power is attached to the killing grid. Any help?
you don't need 110 volt to kill the bugs with,24 volts will do just fine and all you need for that is a step down transformer and a restring kit for electric heat strips(electric furnace)and set it up that way now what you use for a platform to build it on will be up to your imagination,a 5 gal bucket cut into sections comes to mind,and all this can be bought at a a/c supply house or some home depots and Lowe's might carry the trans formers,you can even use a step down trans. for a door bell,if you have an old plug in charger for a cell phone or cordless drill will work just cut the plug for the charging end off and wire it into what ever you decide to use,it can be strips of sheet metal that you get at the hardware store,the possibilities are endless,like the words form the great speaker"Sponge bob Square pants" use your imaginaaatttiiioonn
